Chief Detective Susno, Deputy Attorney General, Fact Finding Team Member Hand In Resignations
Chief Detective of National Police, Cmr. Gen. Susno Duadji has officially resigned from his position on Thursday morning. His resignation followed that of Deputy Attorney General Abdul Hakin Ritonga, who handed in his resignation early on Thursday.
University of Indonesia law professor Hikmahanto Juwana, a member of the fact finding team appointed by the president to look into the allegations of a plot to criminalize members of the country's antigraft agency, also resigned on Thursday morning. It was rumored that additional members of the team were planning to step down.
"I am resigning because it is obvious that my recommendations are being ignored by the National Police," Hikmahanto said.
National Police Chief Gen. Bambang Hendarso Danuri and Attorney General Hendarman Supandji are meeting with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono at his office to discuss the resignations.
National Police Headquarters is planning a press conference to discuss the resignations on Thursday morning.
