Family Collects Body of Grand Indonesia Suicide Victim

The family of a 24-year-old woman who jumped to her death from the fifth floor of Jakarta's Grand Indonesia mall collected her body on Monday night.

The woman, named Ice Juniar, jumped from the fifth floor on Monday afternoon. Ice was originally from Palembang, South Sumatra.

“The victim asked her family to take her sightseeing at Grand Indonesia mall. She went to the mall with her mother, aunt and uncle but when they reached the fifth floor, she separated herself from her family and deliberately jumped,” Sr. Comr. Hamidin from Central Jakarta Police told Metro TV.

Her family said she had mental health problems and was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Dharmawangsa, South Jakarta.

Ice’s body was taken to Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital for an autopsy. On Monday night, her family took the body to Husada Hospital in Mangga Besar, Central Jakarta.

Just three and a half hours later, a man jumped from the fifth floor of Senayan City mall.  The man was identified as 25-year-old Reno from Patal Senayan, South Jakarta. It was unclear whether his family had been notified and there were no relatives at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, where his body was also taken for an autopsy.
