Finish Your Work, SBY Tells House

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has issued a plea to members of the House of Representatives (DPR) to keep working until the end of their term on October 20.

He made the appeal during a fast-breaking gathering with DPR leadership Saturday at the residence of House Speaker Agung Laksono.

"We are still on duty to complete the term for two months more" he said.

Poor attendance by lawmakers in recent weeks has been blamed for stalling progress on high-profile legislation, including bills on the anti-corruption effort and military reform.

Agung Laksono said he was optimistic the bill on corruption court could still be passed in September, adding that only a few issues still had to be settled.

"We, the DPR and the government, have already agreed to settle them according to schedule. God willing it will be finished," he said.

Oh what a sight to behold!

Are there guidelines towards obligatory attendance for our loyal lawmakers?

Sometimes I feel that it's more of a blasphemy than a religious utterance when people decide to use God's name in vain. This remark should be revered and not used loosely.
