How to Help: Donating to Indonesia's Quake Relief Effort

West Sumatra’s most urgent earthquake recovery needs are medicines, food, power generators, ambulances and heavy equipment, according to Dandhy Dwi Laksono, a coordinator of volunteer services at Jakarta’s Halim Perdanakusumah airport.

If you want to contribute to the government's relief effort, you can call:

24 hour donation hotline, 021-809777.

The national disaster response agency or BNPB is coordinating both donations and volunteers at Halim Perdanakusumah airport. Three government officees are facilitating:

Ministry of Health, Firza Hendra, 0812 88959533
Ministry of Social Affairs, Endhy Suwarna, 0857 11441172
Indonesian Air Force at Halim Perdanakusumah airport, Lt. Col. Nyoman, 0815 13771992

People who are having trouble sending donations or who wish to send a large amount of aid can contact:

BNPB head coordinator Yolak Dalimunthe, 0818 06034110 or
Colonel Djoko S, 0815 8899202.

Foreign organizations can contact:
Indonesian customs at Halim Perdanakusumah airport, Denny, 0815 801 5251.

All aid and volunteers will be flown to the Minangkabau and Tabing airports in Padang.

There are four Hercules planes flying to Padang every day, with the earliest flight at 6 a.m. and the latest at 9 p.m. Each plane has a capacity of 13.5 tons.

Numerous private organizations are also participating in relief efforts, including the Red Cross, Mercy Corps, Muslim Aid, World Vision and Feed the Children.
